I'll also vote with using underscores with tabs and use them in styles when possible. For all the reasons given above.

Re: Use line tool or underline??
Here's a good tutorial about using tabs and underlines, and why not to use the Line tool:

Unknown trash can watermark appears automatically in InDesign page(?)
Hi, can anyone tell the reason for this issue happening in indesign page. some kind of watermark, a unknown trash can icon appears automatically in the background in the whole page. Also, there is no links, pasted graphics, image box or anything placed in the background and this cannot be removed. If anyone experienced this issue please give a solution. Thanks.

Re: Datenzusammenführung und ausfüllbare Formularfelder
Hallo Uwe,
Tobias
Re: CC library group or type views
Good afternoon Barb.
Thank you for your suggestions.
Sorry for being slow to respond. What a day!
Just this afternoon, I was able to spend some time connected up to one of the operators who is seeing this behaviour.
She was just about to head home, but more interested in trying to get this behaviour resolved - so happy to spend some time with me on it.
They have tried signing in and out of their accounts. I have watched to make sure.
Due to this, I was of the opinion that they are running the most recent version - as typically that action can cause an update.
This is the Adobe CC version that they have running, so you may be able to correct me there:
Neither removing the "Creative Cloud Libraries" directory, nor the Command+Option+R in the CC app did the trick either.
Though I will keep those in mind if I see any other unexpected behaviour, as I was not familiar with those tricks.
Most of the libraries that they are using are shared.
They are shown in their groups when the effected user logs into their Adobe CC web account.
It is only a minority of staff who do not see this grouping flow into their Adobe apps.
It may be a clue to know that this behaviour does not seem to follow the staff member around. If they log into their Adobe CC account from a different workstation, the CC Library panel appears correctly - in that they have the different view options available.
Thanks again for your time and suggestions. I really appreciate it.
Re: Use line tool or underline??
Hi.
Although I'd also definitely reject the idea of using line tool, I have to disagree with my esteemed colleagues:
I would vote for a character style applied to tabs.
Either using nested or grep styles - depends on your layout really...
Why is that, you may ask?
Because I'm a maniac and don't like inconsistent spacing
Re: Loosing image performance even though I imported them from PDF - help!
Hi, I am using the 2019 indesign cc
Re: Loosing image performance even though I imported them from PDF - help!
Yes I did but unfortunately it does not work
Re: Loosing image performance even though I imported them from PDF - help!
Thank you for your answer, I am not sure if it is a indesign problem or if my files are low resolution but when I import them they are good quality and after about a day or so (or a few saving) they blur themselves... I do not know if it is my files
Re: Loosing image performance even though I imported them from PDF - help!
Hi,
Thank you, I only have the photos in pdf (I am not using photoshop) and I am using a windows and the 2019 indesign version

Re: InDesign CC 2019 Update
Could you provide a link please? The 2019 version still crashes when trying to relink images.
Re: CC library group or type views
That's interesting, it just popped up on my screen after start InDesign as 'New Feature'
Re: Unknown trash can watermark appears automatically in InDesign page(?)
Hi,
that is a new one for me! Can you confirm the Operating System and version of InDesign you are using?
Can you check if anything is placed in Layers and Master Pages?
Can you also explain if that happens on any InDesign files, only new ones or just that specific one?
Re: Auto-reset my setting & Expand Pages.
Hi,
Can you confirm the version of your operating system and InDesign ?
I think your first point can be solved by saving your own Workspace. This is a useful feature that allows you to organise the layout of the tools you want to see on your screen. Select Window > Workspace > New Workspace
When using the Page tool, I find it is safer to enter the values in the ribbon at the top of the screen, including changing options so the page is not forced to follow the size of its master page anymore (or create a new master that has the new size that you need)
Why does my document create multiple pages without any command?
All of a sudden when working on my long text document (PhD) inDesign started creating parallel pages if I make any changes to the text, one page per letter. It does this until it warns that there can only be 10 pages in on spread. I have no idea where this came from. Help!?
Re: Problem with Indesign CS5.5 control panel Version 7.5.3. [Renamed]
Hi Liesbeth,
We’re so sorry to hear about this. I am hopeful that the issue was fixed. If not, please confirm which operating system (the exact version of Windows/MAC) you are using? I'm afraid that CS applications has been discontinued and is no longer compatible with today's operating systems. Any attempts to troubleshoot the install could result in it becoming unusable. In case you have it installed on a compatible operating system (System requirements | Older versions of InDesign ), then please try resetting preferences for InDesign (Set preferences in Adobe InDesign ).
Please note: Resetting preferences will remove all the custom settings and InDesign will launch with default settings. You can also take a backup of the folders in case you want to. Location is mentioned in the article.
Feel free to let us know if you still need assistance.
Regards,
Srishti
Aligning paragraph shading offset to margin
Hi all,
I use paragraph shading with offset to create a box for title name of graphs (FIGURE 15).
However, the offset goes over the margin:
How do I make it so the text box automatically adjust so that the green shading offset aligns perfectly with the margin? I tried using paragraph style inset but it doesn't work. I used Object Style Size and Position options and it does work. Is there a way to set this using paragraph style only, without using object style?
Here's my screen cap for paragraph shading style:
Drop shadow affects vectors inside placed image in InDesign CC
I am currently adding drop shadows to placed pdf images of vectors in a new InDesign document. I just want a simple drop shadow around the bounding box of each image. For some images that were originally vectors created in Illustrator and then turned into a pdf before placed in InDesign this works as expected and desired. For other images when I apply a drop shadow, it applies to the bounding box, as well as all text and vectors inside the actual pdf image, so everything has a drop shadow rather than just the bounding box.
I am guessing it has something to do with the way I exported the pdfs. The one difference I've noted is the images I don't have a problem with were made and exported directly from Illustrator. The images I'm having problems with, have vectors in them, but the final design was laid out and exported from InDesign.
I have tried exporting the images as different file formats, different color conversions/destinations. If I try using a .tiff, jpeg, or png, rather than a drop shadow on every item inside the image, it changes the colors of the image if I try applying a drop shadow.
The only thing that made it stop was if I changed the document's transparency blend space to RGB, but that then changes the look of the rest of my images.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
