You might need to tell Excel to use a comma instead of the semi-colon. I believe this is a regional setting issue.

You need to select the URL inside the rectangle, not the rectangle. Then on your main menu at the top of your screen choose Text/Hyperlink & Cross-References/New Hyperlink from URL.
