JavaScript Fehler (InDesign Creative Suit 6)

Hallo allerseits,

 

Ich habe seit neuestem das Problem, dass InDesign eine Fehlermeldung anzeigt mit der Fehlernummer 54, nähere Details findet ihr unten im beigefügten Screenshot.

Die Dateien lassen sich nur noch über das Programm öffnen indem ich auf "Datei->Öffnen..." klicke.

Beenden lässt sich InDesign auch nicht mehr, ich muss es erzwingen (was ja eigentlich nicht gut ist).

Es öffnet sich auch ab und zu das Fenster zur Aufforderung "Java für OS X 2015-001" zu installieren, was aber nicht möglich ist.

Eine Deinstallation und Installation kommt leider auch nicht mehr in Frage. Ich konnte das Paket nicht installieren, bis ich über Umwege den Paketinhalt anzeigen lassen habe und nur so installieren konnte. Danach kam aber auch das 2. Problem, dass meine Seriennnummer nicht überprüft werden konnte. Nun stand ich da, bis ich auf die Idee kam InDesign durch meine externe Festplatte wiederherzustellen.

Aber Fehlernummer 54 wurde dadurch auch nicht behoben.

Der Kundendienst konnte mir da auch nicht weiterhelfen. Ich hoffe dass ich hier die nötige Hilfe bekomme.

What Mac operating system are you using? CS6 is not supported for any Mac OS later than Yosemite (10.10). If you are using a later version of the Mac OS then your problem is probably the result of that.

Since your ID settings are good, check the Page Setup option in the Print dialog box. These settings can override ID's settings. If the setting (for grayscale in this case) was ever changed for a job--possibly in a different program--it can be a "sticky" setting and still be active.

The error is from a startup script. You can disable by removing the converturltohyperlink folder and its contents from your Scripts folder

I removed the folder as you said. Now the error window doesn't show up. But I still can't open the files through finder. I have to open it from InDesign itself. And also I can't quit without forcing. Now I will try to delete line 100, as I read in the internet somewhere. Hope this will help.

I'm using the latest operating system for mac and I thought so, that these programs don't function normal anymore. I bet some day we even won't be able to open and have to do subscription.

Hi BlueFire,

 

All fields can be tweaked with the paid version of Acrobat, as Derek said. Go to Properties for the Text field, then Options and type in a limit for the number of characters.  It is not unlimited — I tested that by going high enough to get an error message, and I'm counting nine zeros after the one.

 

Turn multi-line on if you have a lot of text. You wouldn't want 1,000,000,000 characters on one line — 40–60 characters is optimal.

 

As for scrollable, if it's going to a database, you can make it scrollable. If the final output is print, turn off scrollable and make the multi-line field large enough to hold the text so it can still be seen on the printed page.

Deleting line 100 in the skript has achieved nothing unfortunately. So by now I will keep the converturltohyperlink folder removed. But hope I will get help here

As said, any decent printer would have the capabilities to do this for you.

There are plenty out there. Looks like smartpress.com has a 500 version limit.

You might try deleting your preferences.

 

If you don’t want or use startup scripts, make sure your startup scripts folders is empty: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Scripts/startup scripts and there are no startup scripts folders inside of your Scripts folder.

Thanks for catching...

 

On track again:

 

I checked the Konica printer's specifications and it supports the PostScript 3 (CPSI 3016) PDL. So InDesign should be able to communicate with it. The printer is also very PDF-savvy, so I expect no problems, no structural lack or incapability at the printer's side, which leaves it to be an ill-behaving setting or bug...

 

A test with a print-out of a simple new document with some colourful content would help, to find out whether there's something wrong with the content of the file the OP is trying to print, or InDesign itself ?

No, this is not what I see or what happens.

It's after I have released the  mouse and space bar (creating the hand too) that the screen will continue to keep moving ... just on Friday it scrolled up three pages. It is not magnifying the page ... the page view keeps moving.

How to I create a multi business card layout on a 8.5x11 format?

So I have already created a front and back of a business card with the proper margins and bleeds but it is just setup for one card right now.  I would like to convert that so that it is setup on a 8.5x11 format for multiple business cards and still keep the bleed and margins for printing.  The old way I have done this was to create a PDF with the crop marks and line things up from there on a 8.5x11 format.  But this new card is one solid background of the same color and it is proving difficult to do the PDF version.

In order to rule out certain factors, it might be interesting to let one of us try to convert such a problematic file. Perhaps we're able to obtain a surprisingly different result. After all, error messages are often to very reliable. Could you post/share such a file (zipped) on a cloud service ?

It could be an issue with your mouse or the mouse driver. Do you have another mouse you could test?

I even don't know for what these startup scripts are good for if I can delete them. But will try to delete them, thanks for the detailed describtion. Will tell if it worked.

You or another user must have installed them—a regular InDesign install doesn’t include any startup scripts. As the name implies, a startup script would run any time InDesign starts up. They often include listener code that listens for a user action (i.e Print) and then performs a task.

 

You don’t have to delete them, you could simply move them out of the InDesign folder and they wont run on the next startup.
