Re: What do I need to do?

DM, thanks for your interest and input. I have the original text file from 2008, but over these years I have had the graphic designer make edits and she just sends me the PDF finished file so I would have go back through all the changes, etc. Just too much work for me. Today, I decided because of all the hassle trying to figure it all out between InDesign and Word that I'll just make the changes I want in one of the printed books I have, and let her make the changes in InDesign. I just thought it would be so great for me if I could have the "hands on" to make the changes I want when I want in the timing I need, and save the editing charges. Sometimes she takes SO long to get the changes made. Anyway, I guess the problem is solved. Thanks again, B

DM, it might be against company rules to provide 'live' documents. Stuff like that ought to have been agreed upon before the work was done.

Barbara, if you cannot get your designer to send you the actual InDesign file(s), ask for an RTF export. That's just plain text with basic formatting; so, not threatening to the designer.

But I'm curious: if you wrote the book, why don't you have the original text file?
